[04.20.03] - Body Art

At a recent party, a friend of ours got a great picture of a piece of Morticia's art which her assistant Angelica had tattooed on her back.  The painting was created for Angelica and her son.

[08.10.02] - Movies

Do you remember seeing your first Godzilla film and thinking "Is this suppose to be believable?"  Well that is what Reign of Fire was like. It was a great dragon movie, if it is to become the new American version of Godzilla. It was as if we were just too jealous of Japan and came up with our own look-alike film. Unlike Austin Powers which is now becoming a kind of "Dickens meets Mel Brooks" in a James Bond look-alike film, was not meant to be funny. Still laughs were to be had, just as you may titter every time Godzilla tears down power lines. You may have to giggle as tiny humans run towards giant predators who breath fire with just a battle axe to defend themselves.

Austin Powers films tickle me because they have many levels of humor which leaves me smiling or uncontrolled. As usual I find that my sense of the absurd and the general audience is not always a match. The Ron Howard hairdo was more then I could take.

About Signs, there is a plan forming that a collection of "persons" should gather to watch this movie. To prepare for the event we shall forge Thought-Protective Headgear made of valuable aluminum. While waiting in line (as if there is ever a line in Me-said) we shall sing Signs....you know that song that goes "signs, signs, everywhere signs........." Of course the goal is to have socially appropriate behavior so as not to get kicked out of the Movie House. Being aware of local ordinances and traditions are important. Once again proving, that with proper full inclusion at the grade school level, even the creatively endowed can remain a free and at large population.

[07.19.02] - Philip

Philip, black and white drawing by Phoenix Philip, in color
Philip, b&w drawing "Philip in the looking glass" a self portrait

Well, I believe I have seen dearest Philip haunting around Modesto for some time. As I recall it was his ancient camera which he carried about on night journeys of some sort. It so looked like the drawings of the professional camera that Parker always hung about him. Perhaps my statement dates me; I am a vampire as well as being a web head after all.

I was startled by his appearance. I had such a powerful reaction to his presence; perhaps it was my spider sense telling me we have a destiny threshold to one day cross. Maybe it was because he recalled Peter Parker from my deep childhood fantasies. He has such startling blue large blue eyes, and I also noticed his phenomenal wit. A very Peter aspect. "He is slight and quick in manner", I thought to myself, "the camera is a prop for some sort of street drama which he will perpetrate as well as being something to hide behind."

In my fantasies I was either he who slung the web and shot the film, The Bad Girl who was turned around by Peters heroic efforts, or Auntie May. I found her fascinating because of all her near death experiences which made me wonder what it would be like to live life always knowing death was always so very near. So of course "Harold and Maud" would become one of my all time favorites.

Back to Philip anyway .... those sightings were far between and long ago. More recent realities brought it to my attention that I was not a professional photographer, and was in need of some one to shoot and even re-shoot Phoenix-Smith's work in order to 1) post it, and 2) have slides. The stuff which was done by Christopher is good but that was long ago, and I have not seen or heard from him in such a long time. It is important to have good images to reproduce from. I think he should be acknowledged by Ms. Ryan because he did the Forbidden. Well there are 3-4 that have not been shot.

Back to Philip .... well it turns out that he is a photographer after all. I saw his portfolio; it was so great filled with Children of the Night and Others. Hybrid came over when he was shooting the Watching TV series; Hybrid seemed to very much enjoy being part of that event. Orasio came over while he was doing the naked ones. Please notice that Phoenix has done Orasio many times. The slides and the prints came out very well. I hope you enjoy them when they go up on Phoenix-Smith's site. For now I will show the drawing Phoenix did of him (photo at top). He was watching Chinese Box that was June 29. He promised that he would be in the Dark Gallery when Hybrid gets that up, have you noticed how quickly Hybrid gets things up? He plans to come back, and finish up very soon.

[07.05.02] - July 4th in Water-Hole*

I love Water-Hole's fourth of July; I ran into so many folks I have not seen for a while. I would love to gossip about them with you, but you do not really know them yet. I ran into Ted who says he is going to produce his greatest hits album, although he has never done one. He still hangs with Dakota and says he is happy to hear that Brian and Roy are now street bums in Sacramento. He tells me that in October he will be producing a film. Chris, the once avid Metallica fan, is now totally shaved bald and hanging with a cute girl with bobbed hair and shorty bangs.

I saw such cute styles. One girl was dressed as Rosie the Riveter; other people called her the tampon female. I saw a blond with shorty bangs and a pony tale who had black streaks and hecka tattoos. Just to name a few.

Anyway Ace's band was there and played, which was cool. His band was the best of course. Nate and Tommy reviewed who they were and were not hanging with. Marty, Tony and Amy hung out as a little family group who later hooked up with Hybrid. Tony ran into a classmate from the 60's. Marty ran into the vice principal at the school she teaches at, as well as a college chum.

Water-Hole is so small that it is not afraid of it's diversity. There is no group that is big enough to hold sway over the community.
