I have read a great number of books which have influenced
me. Historically they include subject matter such as aphasia, neurological soft brain damage, dyslexia,
and other specific brain differences due to many factors which
include things such as war and stroke victims. I have read a great deal
concerning post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders,
and acquisition of knowledge and skills. I am most interested in the totality of the human experience,
which is a human's ability to interpret events around them and respond in a
functional way. Of course then up pops that nasty question "what is
functioning any way?" What follows is a short list of books I have
found fascinating or ground breaking.
Barkley A. Russell,
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
Susan Forward and Craig Buck, Toxic Parents
Julian Jaynes, The Origin of Consciousness in the
Break Down of the
Bicameral Mind
Howard Gardner, Intelligences Reframed: Frames of
Mind, Multiple Intelligences: the Theory in
Practice
Robert Ornstien, The Right Mind, Making Sense of the
Hemispheres, The
Evolution of Consciousness the Origins of the Way We
Think, Multi-Mind:
A New Way of Looking at Human Behavior, Symposium of
Consciousness
Debra Niehoff, The Biology of Violence
Marvin Minsky, The Society of Mind
Steven Pinker, How the Mind Works
Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
